Effective 6 September 2026 · Last updated 6 September 2026
The short version. I collect your name and email when you download the free guide, so I can send it to you and follow up about buying a home. I don't sell your information to anyone. Every email I send has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask me to delete your details at any time by writing to brianw@moverealestate.org.
Who this is
This site is operated by Brian Williams, a licensed real estate broker in the State of Oregon (License #201258482), affiliated with Move Real Estate (Firm License #201227948), Portland, Oregon.
Contact: brianw@moverealestate.org
What I collect
Information you give me
- Your first name, last name, and email address, when you fill in the form to download the free guide.
- Anything you choose to tell me if you email me or book a call — including what you're looking for, your timeline, and your situation.
- Booking details if you schedule a call, which are handled by Google Calendar.
Information collected automatically
- Your IP address and browser information, logged by my hosting provider for security and to keep the site running.
- How you arrived here — the page that referred you, and any campaign tags in the link you clicked. I use this to understand which posts and ads are worth continuing.
What I do not collect
- Payment details never touch this website. If you buy the book, checkout happens entirely on Payhip. I never see or store your card number.
- This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own. My hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set essential security cookies to distinguish real visitors from bots.
- I don't collect financial account information, Social Security numbers, or credit details through this site. If you become a client, any information needed for a transaction is handled separately and under my brokerage's procedures.
Why I collect it, and what I do with it
- To send you the free guide you asked for.
- To follow up by email about buying a home, market conditions, rates, and my services — roughly a couple of times a month.
- To respond when you email me or book a call.
- To understand which marketing works, in aggregate.
If you are buying in the Portland metro area, I may contact you about representing you as your real estate agent. That is the reason this site exists, and I'd rather say so plainly than bury it.
Who else touches your information
I use a small number of established services to run this. Each receives only what it needs, and none of them are permitted to sell your information.
| Service | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Follow Up Boss | My customer relationship manager. Your name, email, and how you found me are stored here. |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the website and protects it from abuse. Sees IP addresses and request logs. |
| Payhip | Processes book purchases and delivers the files. They are the merchant of record and handle payment data under their own privacy policy. |
| Runs the appointment booking page and my email. |
I do not sell your personal information, and I never have. I may share it if the law requires it, or with my brokerage where a real estate transaction makes that necessary.
Email, and how to stop it
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you're off the list — no reply needed and nothing to explain. You can also email me and I'll remove you myself.
Unsubscribing from marketing doesn't stop me replying to a message you send me, or confirming a call you booked.
How long I keep it
I keep your contact details in my CRM for as long as it's plausible you might still be buying a home, and until you ask me to delete them. Records connected to an actual real estate transaction are retained for the period Oregon law requires of licensed brokers.
Your choices
Whatever state you live in, you can ask me to:
- Tell you what information I hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your information
- Stop emailing you
Email brianw@moverealestate.org and I'll take care of it. I won't treat you differently for asking. Depending on where you live — Oregon and California among them — you may have these rights under state law as well; I extend them to everyone regardless.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Credentials for the services above are stored as encrypted secrets and are not present in the website's code. That said, no method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure, and I can't promise absolute security.
Children
This site is meant for adults buying homes. It isn't directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given me their details, email me and I'll delete them.
Fair Housing
⌂All real estate activity described on this site is subject to the Federal Fair Housing Act. I do not and will not steer buyers toward or away from any neighborhood based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, or any other protected class, and I don't use the information collected here to do so.
This is educational, not advice
The book, the free guide, the calculator, and everything else on this site are educational. They are not legal, tax, or financial advice, not a loan approval, and not a commitment to lend. Every figure shown is an illustration. Talk to a licensed mortgage loan originator, a real estate professional in your market, and where appropriate an attorney or tax professional.
Changes
If I change this policy I'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant and I have your email, I'll tell you.
